Where does my "voice" come from?

What happens when I breath?

How can I relax my body while singing?

This class will answer these questions and more about the relationship between singing and the body. In fact, without a basic knowledge of the body, a singer doesn't really know their instrument!

The class will begin with an overview of anatomy most relevant to singing, including the larynx, vocal folds, diaphragm, and more. We will identify these components in our own bodies and visualize with images and videos.

Afterwards, Wesley will introduce and apply concepts from Alexander Technique that will help each singer connect to their bodies. There will be time for each singer to practice the exercises and receive individual feedback and guidance. This class will be playful, explorative, and informative.
