Chelsea Davidson featured in Metropolitan Opera's Singing Showcase

Our very own Chelsea Davidson will be performing selections from her dream role for the Met Guild!

These master classes and showcases explore aspects of preparation vital to the development of young performers, under the guidance of master teachers with diverse backgrounds in stage direction, vocal coaching, conducting, and operatic and theatrical performance.

About the opera: Donizetti composed Lucia di Lammermoor in 1935, a time when he was regarded as "the sole reigning genius of bel canto Italian opera." Jane Marsh and two singers delve into the musical, vocal, and bel canto traditions of the opera's tragic lovers, Lucia and Edgardo.

Featuring Chelsea Davidson, soprano; Paolo Buffagni, tenor; and Eric Sedgwick, piano.

Events are held in the Opera Learning Center, on the 6th floor of the Samuel B. and David Rose Building at Lincoln Center, unless otherwise noted.

Sarah Peacock at Sauf Haus

  • Sauf Haus Beer Garen and Listening Room (map)

Georgia grown singer songwriter, Sarah Peacock, swings the pendulum across the spectrum of what's considered to be today's country music; bridging gaps between modern country, alternative country, folk, americana, and even classic rock. You'll find a truthful rawness in her music and real life themes of faith, overcoming struggle, and un-acquitted love that will leave you oddly feeling closer to home. And, most certainly you're sure to find a piece of your own story threading throughout the fabric of her songs.

Washington National Opera presents Dead Man Walking

Check out our very own Chelsea Davidson perform in the ensemble of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking.

~~~
'Sentenced to die for a double-murder he swears he didn't commit, hardened convict Joseph De Rocher asks a kindhearted nun to help him with one last appeal. Sister Helen Prejean accepts his request, only to begin her own searing journey through the emotional and spiritual ramifications of his supposed crime. As execution day ticks closer, the young nun finds herself empathizing with Joseph's predicament. But once his family and the victims' relatives share their harrowing stories, she struggles to reconcile the paradox of mercy and compassion with society's demand for justice.
Based on Prejean's real-life memoirs, which also inspired the 1995 film, Dead Man Walking infuses its score with American popular styles to become an instant modern classic, hailed as one of the most gripping and important operas of the new century. For its landmark premiere in 2000, the New York Times called this mesmerizing drama "a masterpiece of words, music, and emotions." And London's Guardian raved it "makes the most concentrated impact of any piece of American music theater since West Side Story."'
